XGC: an eXtension of the Goldbach Conjecture

1993-03, Website, ***, Mathematica, OEIS

A web site I created to illustrate my extension of the popular Goldbach Conjecture. Click on the *** link to try it right now, from your browser.

The drill is to remember a nice use I discovered for the Goldbach Conjecture.

  1. Take a long strip of wood.
  2. Mark a line in the middle, along all its length.
  3. Mark an X each U centimeters along the line.
  4. Associate an integer to each X, starting from 1 and incrementing by 2.
  5. Make a hole on each X that happens to be associated to a prime.
  6. Install a 180 degrees bendable hinge each U/2 centimeters, starting from the first X onward.
  7. The Goldbach Conjecture states that at WHATEVER hinge you fold the strip on itself, there will be AT LEAST ONE hole across both layers.
